For Sale

Sorry for lack of updates. It’s mainly due to my not feeling too good. I’m currently fighting off the remains of my man cold. It’s been a bad one.

Over the weekend we put the house on the market. The usual measuring took place and scribbling of notes. Then came the shock – the commission figure. What exactly do they do for the money! I am defiantly in the wrong job.

I don’t know why, but for some reason the for sale boards around here suffer from punch holes. I’ve seen the local scum come round and punch them! I told the estate agent not to fit one, but he was determined, so I let him. This morning a van appeared just as we left for work with a man to fit our lovely board. When we arrived home from work it was still resplendent, announcing to all the passers by that we want to move out. And at some point this evening it received its fatal blow. So I sent him an email saying “told you so, don’t put another one up” in a not so direct fashion. I have removed it so as not to attract any more undesired attention to our property. What a wonderful world.

It’s been a trying weekend.

Firstly we tried to purchase some new flooring for our kitchen and bathroom. We purchased some very good value off cuts suitable for the job. NB – make sure you can fit what you purchase into your chosen mode of transport BEFORE handing money over and saying goodbye to shopkeeper. It’s amazing what you can fit into a Corsa if you push hard enough.

Then we tried to find the house that Mrs Bear’s sister has moved to. Multimap printout at the ready…. Yay, found it. Pah – who needs one of those silly GPRs things? And while we are on the subject of GRPs, my brother says his talks like Darth Vader!

Then we tried to have a quiet night in with some friends and a DVD of The Anchorman. I have to say I hadn’t heard of it until a couple of weeks ago. It’s quite funny, if you like in your face American comedy.

On Sunday I tried to lay the flooring for the bathroom and kitchen with the help of my brother-in-law. We started at 10am by removing the bathroom carpet. That was the only quick and easy part of the day. As I removed it I discovered that the toilet was leaking. Not deterred I carried the old carpet down to the garage and roughly cut the new vinyl to the correct shape. About an hour and a half later with much swearing and dodgy cutting techniques employed we were finished. The kitchen was supposed to be much easier. After moving the fridge freezer and washing machine we placed the new vinyl roll in the kitchen. Oh no it’s all going too well, so let’s have some unfunny pain in the bottom problem. Let’s make the measurements on the roll incorrect so that it flippin isn’t big enough. To make a short story even shorter, half an hour later we were back with a larger roll and off we go! By the end of the day we had a nice new floor in the kitchen and bathroom, so it was worth the effort and bother. All I have to do now is fix the leaky toilet – hmmm, not looking forward to that.

Brownie points

Yesterday I was generally grumpy. From the moment I got up things were just bad. The Mrs (names have been changed to protect the innocent) copped most of it. As the day went by at work my mood simmered, but I can’t express anger or annoyance at work, it’s my job to remain calm and helpful. At times my telephone manner would slip slightly. One customer almost detected my frustration at having to explain how to overcome a regular problem – she didn’t know I’d already explained the same thing to three other people that morning. 20 minutes later the problem was fixed (Hooray). And I didn’t get a lunch break again.

Later, at home, I was still Mr Grumpy Fart. I had 45 minutes to scoff dinner before having to leave home for job No.2. Mrs Bear was very patient yet again. I don’t know why she puts up with my moods sometimes. After my shift, via my local 24 hour supermarket, I purchased some lovely brownie points. It was the least I could have done. And this morning she saw them. I should buy flowers more often. I should be less grumpy more often.

Sorry Mrs.

Bear.

Catch Up

So much has happened since my last blog. Amongst my most memorable moments are the following…

1. Deciding to start Geocaching
2. Meeting LoisInTheForest
3. Starting Geocaching (there is a link between 1 2 and 3)
4. Going to Somerset for a holiday
5. Trying to get a job at the BBC
6. Having a good Christmas and New Year
7. Missing the SimonG meet

This year I intend to

1. Blog more often
2. Geocache more often
3. Move house
4. Become 30
5. Write lists and work from them
6. Any other duties

At least my first intention has worked – twice in one day!

Well I should share something of interest from my life.

My parents came round yesterday for dinner. They brought their dog Spot. He’s almost 9 years old now, and his vocabulary is very good. He understands the main words – Walk, Sit, Ball, Biscuit. Dog owners please share with me because I’m not sure if it’s supposed to happen – when Spot is happy his tail wags around, however when he’s really happy it sort of spins around like some hairy helicopter blade. Combine that with nervous excitement… lets just say aromatic candles are required.

Until next time,

Bear.
